Living in Korea for a year, I got used to weird things. Entire cows cooking in gigantic vats of boiling water, dogs with dyed fur, eyelid tape, you name it. So it should come as no surprise that the latest K-pop song is titled “Mazel Tov.”

Mazel tov? As in…the phrase people said to me at my Bat Mitzvah? Yep. Fellow English teacher Neal sent the video out to a bunch of us a few weeks ago, and I’ve been sitting on it since.

ZE:A (translation: Children of Empire) is one of the newest K-pop groups to hit the scene. Mimsie, who is finishing up her contract at SEV, said that she hears the song whenever she’s out. I did a bit of Googling, but found no explanation or background for the song’s lyrics (which include “Latin girl, Mexican girl, American girl, Japan girl, Korean girl,” yet no mention of “Israeli girl” or “Jewish girl”).

The lyrics can be found here and you can meet the guys here. I dare you to tell me this song isn’t even a little bit catchy.
